This is a great story, apparently bill parcels offered 5 different players, include Jake and Chris Long the same money and said whoever takes it will be the #1 pick. That is awesome, there really is not reason to have a hold out for an unproven player and this is a great tactic to get around that.

I always hated when teams paid so DAM much for players that get guaranteed money and they end up sucking so bad.

I totally agree. To give a rookie $70 million is just insane. But hey, if you can get it, take it.

Maybe Parcels is not going to be the overall win win answer for the Dolphins. Looks like they are going to have another shot at running the table... in reverse.

Jake Long took the money! $57 million over 6 years. Holy moly that is a lot of money for an unproven guy. I like Parcels approach though, no way you get that much money as the number 4 or 5 pick so it worked out for both parties.

I will be so happy when they implement some NBA draft rules. Give an unproven guy that much money is just insane! I know they do their research but you will just never know how much talent this guy has until he actually plays.
